The Mission of the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society is to share God’s love in word and deed by providing shelter and supportive services to older persons and others in need, believing that “In Christ’s Love, Everyone is Someone.”

The Good Samaritan Story

The time was 1922; the place was Arthur, North Dakota. Rev. August Hoeger was serving as a parish pastor in a small prairie community when he heard the call to “go and do likewise.” The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society (ELGSS) was established as a non-profit, Christian organization. Fueled by its founder's great faith, the Society has since grown to operate approximately 250 facilities in 25 states, employing 21,000 staff members, and serves more than 28,000 residents.

Kissimmee Good Samaritan Village History

The Village was purchased in 1979 and the ELGSS expanded the services with the addition of a Community Center, Clubhouse, Wellness Center, Home Health Agency, golf course, swimming pools, etc. Good Samaritan also constructed several manufactured home parks and Village West. Kissimmee Good Samaritan Village is the largest facility of the The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society.
