To the Staff of the Memory Care Unit:
As my father's would be 89th birthday approaches, I wanted to bring you some treats for all the hard work you did in caring for him. Your kindness can not be described, but I shall try with my limited brain power, (based on my gene pool, I should be preserving every remaining brain cell and synapse.)
Each day you look into the face of diseases for which there is little treatment and no cure; into faces that often give little or no recognition or thanks reflected back. Yet you persevere.
With your knowledge and skilled hands you preserve each individual. You affirm and dignify with your genuine concern and immense patience; you give encouragement and confidence with your touching guidance and your reassuring voices; you enrich with your humor and warmth. All of this and more you do instinctively, calmly and gracefully while never forgetting that each person in your care is an individual with his own life, his own story.
Know that each and every one of you is a treasure with a special gift.
It gave me such comfort to leave my sometimes less-than-angelic father in your care. All I can say is thank you, and yet it is humbling that thank you is all I can say.

Our center serves persons who need skilled nursing care after hospitalization, temporary inpatient rehabilitation, wound care specialists or assistance with daily self care. In addition to long-term residential care (including memory care and end of life care), we offer transitional sub acute inpatient and outpatient rehabilitative therapies.
