Residents at Good Samaritan Society – Las Cruces Village in Las Cruces, N.M., enjoy the changing light on the Organ Mountains, which rise above the Rio Grande Valley. Las Cruces Village sits at an elevation of 4,100 feet and is on the slope with the river and downtown sections to the west and the mountains to the east. Many residents say they are reminded of the glory of God by the afternoon sunset colors on the mountains. Daily chapel, Sunday worship services and a full-time chaplain offer everyone an opportunity to seek a larger view of life.
The first three buildings of our campus, housing 162 residents, were completed in 1979. As the city has grown to more than 70,000 people, the Village has grown to seven buildings and 180 employees, providing a complete continuum of care for approximately 320 residents. The green, 16-acre campus has the feel of an oasis in the desert with a Social Center for dining, a library, a village store, beauty shop, various workshops, recreation room and a separate building for the indoor pool and Jacuzzis. A fitness room and daily exercise classes are available.
Residents are at home in 158 senior living apartments in two apartment buildings and garden apartments; a freestanding, 24-unit assisted living facility; and a 94-bed health-care center. The emphasis is on providing a meaningful life to each resident whether they have moved permanently into the facility or for rehabilitation before returning home.
SENIOR LIVING
Most residents have a proactive attitude and a desire to make their own decisions. They choose Las Cruces Village because of the many levels of care offered and the multitude of activities and events.
Apartment residents enjoy the independence and the freedom of retirement. A call system in each apartment means that nursing staff is never far away and available for emergency assistance 24 hours a day. Occasional illness, accident or surgery may find residents in the healthcare center for a short stay or limited to their own apartment under the watchful eye of friends and neighbors and with assistance from Las Cruces Village Home Health Agency.
For those who need a little more help and structure with meals, medicines and daily tasks, Assisted Living provides a positive and safe environment close to their friends. Staff is on duty 24 hours a day and the internal call system brings help quickly in case of emergency.
Assisted living residents enjoy the socialization of various activities and meals shared in the central dining room, while they can always escape to the privacy of their own apartments. The healthcare center and Las Cruces Village Home Health Agency are also available to serve assisted living residents should they have need.
NURSING HOME CARE
Good Samaritan Society – Las Cruces Village is across the street from Memorial Medical Center and just a few minutes away from the new Mountain View Regional Medical Center, both state of the art hospitals. We provide Medicare-certified, skilled nursing and a full line of therapies for those released from the hospital and needing a limited time in order to rehabilitate and go home.
If long-term placement is needed, we have the facilities, staff and volunteers to fill the days with a busy social life and activities in addition to meeting basic daily needs in a caring and respectful manner. A 14-bed section of the long-term care facility provides special care in a safe and appropriately stimulating environment for those with Alzheimer's and related dementias.
Our healthcare center is a mixture of private and semi-private rooms. All beds are Medicare- and Medicaid-certified.
HOME- AND COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICES
Today we are looking beyond our traditional services and campus to reach out to this ethnically rich and diverse community. We continue to fulfill our mission and our vision through both Las Cruces Village Home Health Care and Outpatient Therapy.
The Medicare-certified Las Cruces Village Home Health Agency follows many skilled nursing residents home after discharge to ensure that improvement continues. The Home Health Agency also provides services to apartment and assisted living residents, whether the need is for nursing, therapy or companion care.
Las Cruces Village Rehabilitation is a state-of-the-art center for physical, occupational and speech therapies. We specialize in comprehensive evaluations for all patients, pre- and post-operative surgical rehabilitation, treatment and rehabilitation of orthopedic and neurological disorders.
