A Christian Community of Care

Good Samaritan Society - St. Croix Valley has achieved a reputation for excellence in long-term care and short-term rehab care by providing an environment that reflects the compassion, comfort, and loving support of Jesus to all our residents. We are dedicated to exceeding your expectations.

Back in 1967 a group of St. Croix Falls community members began a search to bring a nursing home to their community. Two of the community members traveled to Jackson, MN and listened to Rev. August “Dad” Hoeger, founder of the Good Samaritan Society, as he spoke at the Societies’ quarterly meeting. He talked about the care in the homes more than the dollars. This caring speech along with the mission statement of the Society impressed the two community members. They felt that the mission statement was broad based, and the message they heard was about care and community. This devoted group of men began with a vision of a home for the aging residents of their community. They turned vision into reality and the first resident was admitted in the summer of 1968.

In 2010, Good Samaritan Society – St. Croix Valley will begin their 42nd year of serving this community with the same mission that these men believed in. “To share God’s love in word and deed by providing shelter and supportive services to older persons and others in need believing that "In Christ’s Love Everyone Is Someone.”

Because of that mission and “Dad” Hoeger’s vision, we have been planting seeds for a better future through our new home and community based services. In 2007 our existing independent apartments for seniors were licensed to offer assisted living services to seniors needing help to stay at home. On January 1, 2008, we partnered with St. Croix Regional Medical Center, a HUD sponsor, to provide management services for their two HUD apartment complexes in St. Croix Falls. After many months of planning, in March of 2009, our new Good Samaritan Society – Home Care agency began providing home care services to Polk County Wisconsin residents. As of November 2009, the agency is now providing those services to Burnett County Wisconsin.

We are currently in the planning stages to create a rehabilitation center within the care center. This rehabilitation center will enhance our current transitional care services by continuing to provide the rehabilitative therapies that our short-term residents will need to return to their homes.

Our long term residents will continue to receive supportive services for activities of daily living along with new recreational therapy programming including strengthening programs and therapies to maintain their independence.

Our Vision for both long- and short-term rehabilitation healthcare under one roof will benefit all residents that we serve now and into the future. Please stop by, we would love you show you our Christian Community of Care.
