Friends of the Society

“This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.” -- II Corinthians 9:12, NIV

The Society began with one person who cared; now there are many who care, each of whom plays a unique part in fulfilling our ministry. Along with you, these individuals include our center staff members, residents and their families; our local administrators; donors and community volunteers; retirees and spouses; and our Board of Directors and National Campus staff. Indeed, we count as Friends of the Society all who are called to give of themselves – by their time and talents, their prayers, words of encouragement or financial support.

Friends of the Society are called to mission and ministry, to foster Christian communities of care, to manifest Christian service by learning to give and receive care, and to address spiritual dimensions of aging. Friends work as Good Samaritans by participating in special service projects, praying for residents and staff, influencing public policy, and investing in the mission of the Good Samaritan Society.

The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society and the Good Samaritan Foundation invite you to enrich the lives of our residents by joining Friends of the Society, an auxiliary of women and men captured by a common call to collectively carry a Christ-centered ministry of care to older persons and others in need.
