Aftenro Home hosts picnic to celebrate 90th anniversary

(Duluth, Minn.) – In honor of Aftenro Home’s 90 years of commitment to seniors and the community of Duluth, it will host a Neighborhood Celebration and Family Picnic from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 11. The center is located at 510 W. College St., Duluth. There will be food, refreshments, tours and door prizes.
In 1911, eight local Scandinavian women, all members of a local book review club, recognized the need to create a place for older individuals in Duluth to live and be cared for. Finally reaching their dream, Aftenro Home opened in 1921 on five pine-covered acres.
For the past 90 years, Aftenro has continued to be a place many seniors call home. Its historical charm, presence and dedication to care and services make Aftenro a place where people will always feel loved, valued and at peace.
