Good Samaritan Society – Home Care and Hospice (Brainerd/Nisswa, Minn.)

Outpatient therapy services provide therapeutic intervention for individuals of all ages following surgery, illness or injury when hospitalization or 24-hour nursing care is not required. Outpatient therapy includes initial assessment and follow-up treatment to individuals who require assistance in maximizing skills needed to perform daily activities. These programs often include physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. More specialized therapy services also are provided by many Good Samaritan Society communities.

Physical therapists assess and treat functional impairments that result from injury, stroke, surgery, fractures and other medical conditions. They are trained in using specialized exercise and balance techniques to restore mobility.

Occupational therapists assess daily activity skills such as dressing, bathing, cooking and writing. They develop individualized programs to restore these functional skills.

Speech therapists assess impairments in communication skills, speech production and swallowing disorders. Using specialized techniques, they work to restore these skills.
