The Amelia Program

The Amelia Program is designed to provide intermittent services to residents who choose to remain in their homes, but who benefit from in-home care. The services are provided through the Good Samaritan Society, which is licensed by the state, but is a non-certified agency (services are not covered by Medicare). The program is designed to provide flexibility in staffing patterns and meet the specific needs of the individual. There are four levels of service, and a licensed nurse will assess the resident’s needs to determine the recommended level of care. Services could include periodic safety checks, companionship, light meal preparation, health assessment checks, monitoring medication compliance or providing assistance, accompanying the resident to campus functions, housekeeping, home delivered meals and more.

The levels and service provided in each are:

Level I

• Lifeline
• Companion visits to ensure medications are taken; ADL’s (activities of daily living) done by resident; safety check and/or companionship up to one hour per day
• LPN visit for 30 minutes every other week to evaluate status and provide further recommendations, as necessary
• $650 per month

Level II

• Lifeline
• Home health aide 60 minutes per day to provide medications, assist with ADL’s, safety checks and other services as outlined in the plan of care
• LPN 30 minutes every week to evaluate status and provide further recommendations, as necessary
• $950 per month

Level III

• Lifeline
• Home health aide 90 minutes per day to provide medications, assist with ADL’s, safety checks and other services as outlined in the plan of care
• LPN 45 minutes every week to evaluate status and provide further recommendations, as necessary
• $1,450 per month

Level IV

• Lifeline
• Home health aide 2 hours per day to provide medications, assist with ADL’s, safety checks and other services as outlined in the plan of care
• LPN 1 hour every week to evaluate status and provide further recommendations, as necessary
• $1,850 per month

Additional services are available to provide home delivered meals and housekeeping. They are provided at the following rates:

• Housekeeping: $19 per hour, provided through environmental services
• Home delivered meals: One meal delivered 7 days per week, $150 per month

If medication monitoring or assistance is requested, we recommend that medications be pre-packaged through a pharmacy or through the use of an in-home medication dispensing system. Home health can assist in recommending the best system for the situation.

If you call after regular office hours, please leave a message and you will be contacted the next business day. An assessment can be conducted with 24 hours notice, and healthcare services can be implemented soon after. Housekeeping and home-delivered meals will also be scheduled as soon as possible after the assessment and coordinated through home health for the Amelia Program only. This allows for a totally coordinated effort and sharing of information between care providers, resident and family or responsible persons.
