Home healthcare

Home healthcare offers assistance to help people live in their homes as long as possible. This could mean assistance with everyday health and wellness issues. It might mean help during recovery from sickness or injury. In some cases, it's just making sure someone is stopping by to visit and check up on someone so he or she can remain living at home as safely and as comfortably as possible.

Home healthcare may provide personal care and home management services under the supervision of registered nurses within the familiar surroundings of home. It places an emphasis on promoting independence and providing emotional support for clients and their families.

Good Samaritan Society – Home Care at Kissimmee Village is a Medicare-certified, state-licensed home healthcare agency that offers skilled nursing, rehabilitation and companion care services throughout Osceola, Poinciana and southern Orange counties.

Home Care provides skilled nursing care and other services in the comfort and privacy of each client’s home. Working from a philosophy that everyone deserves to feel loved and valued, and to be treated with dignity, Home Care is about giving people hope and helping them overcome fear. Nursing services include:

  • Skilled nursing care
  • Physical, occupational and speech therapy
  • Assistance with feeding, exercise and oral care
  • Assistance with bathing, dressing and hair care
  • Pain and disease management
  • Behavior management
  • IV therapy
  • Family consultation and education

Technology has advanced to a point where, in many cases, it’s just as easy to care for someone at home as in a clinical setting, and it’s far more comfortable for the client. Tailored to meet individuals’ specific needs, the program’s goals are to offer care following hospitalization, illness or injury, and to delay or prevent placement in a skilled nursing center.

In addition, Home Care provides other types of care through private payment arrangements. Some long-term care insurance providers include home care benefits. Services include:

  • Home health aide
  • Companion care
  • Respite care for the caregiver
  • Transportation
  • Meal preparation
  • Assistance with bathing, dressing and hair care
  • Telehealth
