Pine River center welcomes new interim administrator

Jan 25, 2012

(Pine River, Minn.) – George Paulson loves to play piano and drink tea. And, he has a standing date with his treadmill.

But, he also is a book lover. Ask what’s been on his nightstand lately and he will list a few biographies and novels as varying in content as an apple pie is to mincemeat. He is genuinely curious and enjoys the divergent viewpoints of our world.

Perhaps that curiosity is part of the reason he has taken on the interim administrator position at Good Samaritan Society – Pine River. George started his career with the Good Samaritan Society in Pipestone, Minn., then moved to Hastings, Neb., and eventually Kissimmee, Fla., before leaving to try other experiences.

George Paulson

He returned to the Society several years ago to serve as interim administrator in Alliance, Neb., before following a path to other campuses throughout Nebraska, and eventually to Pine River.

George and his wife have called Maple Grove, Minn., home for about the last seven years. Their three grown children and their families are scattered around the globe from Tennessee to London and Barcelona. Clearly, they have inherited a few traits from their father, namely a love of travel, and the wherewithal to ignite and follow their separate passions without reservation.

“I love to get in and get things moving. Get systems in place for a new person,” George says. “I hope to leave behind a highly functioning, unified family with support and respect all the way around in a center that is well positioned for the future.”

It sounds like a hefty task, but George says much of the framework is ready, thanks to strong staff members and the leadership team. He was pleasantly surprised by the campus and its services, including spacious care center rooms, a therapy center and senior apartments, assisted living, and home care and hospice.

The campus, although divided by the river, is nestled in the heart of Pine River. George says Pine River “is an extremely supportive community for the work we do. We see so many visitors and the town truly recognizes and appreciates the sizable workforce we employ here.”

On any given day, you might find George traveling from building to building around campus: entertaining residents with a tune on the piano. Or he might be in his office at the care center where he keeps a pot of hot coffee for staff members. Although he prefers tea, George says there is nothing like a cup of coffee to bring people together.

If you want to get on his good side, a serving of chocolate chip ice cream might get you somewhere. Please join us in welcoming George to Pine River.
