(Brainerd, Minn.) – This spring marks the ninth annual Good Samaritan Bowl benefitting Good Samaritan Society centers in Brainerd and Pine River, as well as the local hospice program. The event was honored as the Society’s largest local fundraiser in its 240 locations in 2011.

But, it is the community that makes this event what it is: the best friendraiser of the year. In honor of the nine-year anniversary, here are the top nine reasons people support Good Samaritan Bowl.

(Brainerd, Minn.) – We have all seen movies where good outruns or outwits evil. It is a plot we are all familiar with, not simply because we have seen it on the big screen a million times, but because we have also seen it play out in our everyday lives with just as much frequency.

Our Good Samaritan Society staff members have also seen this come to life, unscripted and far from the big screen, when a resident transitions to a new lifestyle.

Oftentimes, he has not experienced this many changes at one time since he left home as a bright-eyed teenager many decades ago. Thankfully, staff members have seen this kind of movie enough times to know there is always a happy ending and that a supportive cast makes all the difference.

(Brainerd, Minn.) – A Jan. 4 fire in Brainerd has changed the focus for the annual fundraising efforts of the Good Sam Bowl event scheduled for May 6–7. Proceeds will be used to help replace the van that burned.

Good Samaritan Society –  Woodland Auxiliary has offered $1,000 to start the fund. The Bethany Auxiliary contributed $1,000 in honor of the driver and resident.
