Good Samaritan Society - Volunteering

Volunteers play an integral role in the success of the Good Samaritan Society. Their dedication and commitment are a testament of sharing Christ's Love through word and deed and form the very heart of our mission. Each volunteer helps our organization to provide the highest possible quality of life for those we serve.

We are always looking for compassionate people who can assist us in fulfilling the important role of volunteer. A wide range of individual and group volunteer opportunities are available. Opportunities may include visiting residents; escorting residents; and assisting with a variety of activity programs, including bible studies, bingo, hymn sings and special events.

Volunteers are rewarded with the knowledge that a difference has been made in the life of residents and through wonderful relationships with great people! Prior to placement, all volunteers should attend an orientation session, which includes the following:

History and mission of the Good Samaritan Society
Resident Bill of Rights, the Importance of Confidentiality and the Protection of Vulnerable Adults
Communication with elderly residents
Policies and procedures for volunteers
Infection control, safety and emergency procedures
Specific training for the assigned volunteer position
