Memory care is care that knows no boundaries. More than having around-the-clock assistance available, memory care programs attend to the mind, body and soul with love and compassion.
Memory special care unit
What are the advantages of a special care unit?
A special care unit is a secure environment designed to feel like home. Low noise levels, soothing colors, memory aids, comfortable furniture, and indoor and outdoor access are common.
Perhaps most importantly, staff members are trained to provide support, communicate effectively and encourage meaningful activities and interactions for your loved one.
Staff members in Good Samaritan Society – Beatrice's special care unit are specially trained to care for people with Azheimer's disease and other dementias. We understand the importance of allowing your loved one the freedom to behave in ways that are comfortable without infringing upon the rights and well-being of others. We will respect your loved one as a special individual.
When you need information, support or a friend to talk to, Good Samaritan Society – Beatrice's professional staff can share information about dementia-related conditions. We can also address your concerns about caring for your loved one at home or in our center, and advise you in caring for the physical, mental and emotional needs of your loved one and his or her caregivers.
As one of four specialized households in the Good Samaritan Society – Beatrice center, the special care unit features a homelike, calming environment designed to enhance contentment and reduce frustration for residents. The small staff-to-resident ratio allows for exceptional personalized care.
Family members are invited to participate in regular care conferences to develop and monitor a positive, realistic and individualized care plan.
Trained staff and volunteers will involve your loved one in individual and group activities to enhance physical, mental, social and spiritual well-being. Music, dance, crafts, games, gardening and worship are some of the activities your loved one can participate in. We tailor the programs to each person's needs, preferences and background, always striving to maintain functionality, minimize decline and enhance quality of life.
