    Lifeline medical alert service

Personal emergency response systems from the Good Samaritan Society can give you peace of mind at home.

An emergency response system enables a person to notify emergency service personnel when assistance is needed.

Many systems include a small device with a button worn on a lanyard around the neck. However, emergency response systems may also include buttons, pull cords and other devices installed on walls.

These systems are invaluable for those who are living alone, in case of falls or other emergencies.

Click on the slideshow below to learn how personal emergency response systems work.

    How it works
    • You wear a small personal help button on a cord around your neck, or sometimes on an optional wristband. Whenever help is needed, you can press the button to activate the Lifeline communicator, connected to your telephone line, which will automatically dial the Lifeline call center. The Lifeline communicator will work even during a power outage.
    • At the Lifeline call center, trained personnel are available 24/7. They have all the necessary emergency information about you on file, including your address, phone number, health information and a list of responders to contact in case of emergency.
    • You will hear the voice of the Lifeline staff member through the built-in speakerphone located in the communicator, or through a speaker extension. If, for any reason, the Lifeline staff member is unable to hear your voice, they will attempt to reach you by phone. If they are still unable to reach you by phone, they will send one of the responders to your home to check on you.
    • When the responder arrives at your home, he or she will press the red help button or reset button on the communicator. This signals the Lifeline call center that help has arrived. If needed, the Lifeline call center will contact emergency service personnel in the area.
    Payment options

If you are Medicaid approved, Medicaid may pay for Lifeline services. If you meet low-income requirements and are not Medicaid-qualified, there may be other financial aid options for subscribers. If you are a subscriber on Medicaid, you will need to be referred to the proper servicing agency. All private-pay subscribers may receive services through the Good Samaritan Society Lifeline program. Medicare does not pay for Lifeline services.

The help you need, when and where you need it.
