It only took Mike and Judy Young one visit to know that Hastings Village was the perfect place for them.
When they were ready to downsize from their home, they started looking for an accessible, one-level apartment in Omaha, but didn't find anything with the layout and price they were looking for.
“When we toured Hastings Village, we fell in love with them because we liked the style of the apartments and the community," says Judy.
The couple also knew it was the right decision after they discovered they would be close to a local health care system that offers a variety of specialists.
With Omaha a little under three hours away, they’re still close enough to visit their grandkids, and host them as visitors, too.
“I think they could see that it was a really good move for us,” says Judy.
Making the move has also given them the chance to explore new hobbies. Mike enjoys volunteering at the Hoeger Memorial Library and Judy organizes teams for shuffleboard.
The best piece of advice they received is to “not wait to be invited,” says Don. “Check out the newsletter and just show up at things that you want to be a part of!”
Woman praises helpful rehab staff
Priscilla Porter spent several months in short-term rehab at Hastings Village after breaking her hip during a fall.
And she has nothing but praise for the staff members who helped her.
Priscilla says she is thankful for how willing, helpful, kind and caring they were. She also says she enjoyed the food and met new friends. And because she's always been a people person, she says that it was nice to have the company of others and weekly worship services led by Pastor Dale Phillips.
Now that she's returned home, Priscilla will be using home health services. She knows that she’s always welcome back at Hastings Village if she needs additional care.
