Volunteer opportunities abound at Hastings Village
Everyday, volunteers inspire residents, staff and others by sharing their gifts and talents at Good Samaritan Society – Hastings Village.
The Library, Village Diner and Bargain Center are staffed with volunteers. Residents also help keep the golf course looking nice. Each shift is only a few hours a day, but serves an important role at the Village.
In the rehab/skilled and assisted living areas, volunteers donate countless hours assisting residents with daily activities. Some of the other volunteer tasks include wrapping silverware and folding cloths.
The woodshop, Children’s Ark daycare and TV studio also utilize volunteers.
Residents also volunteer by organizing activities, such as Shuffleboard leagues or Wii bowling.
The various volunteer opportunities around the Village give residents worthwhile activities to pursue. About 131 residents currently volunteer their time.
Another 47 individuals from the Hastings community serve as volunteers on the campus.
Students from a local college psychology class spend time with rehab/skilled and assisted living residents to learn from them. College students have also organized community service days on the campus.
In 2017, volunteers gave 20,477 hours of their time. We are thankful for their generous service.
