Memory care is care that knows no boundaries. More than having around-the-clock assistance available, memory care programs attend to the mind, body and soul with love and compassion.

Perhaps most importantly, staff members are trained to provide support, communicate effectively and encourage meaningful activities and interactions for your loved one.

At Good Samaritan Society – Hays, we provide our residents with services that fit their unique needs. One of those services, the Behavior Based Ergonomics Therapy (BBET) program, has been implemented in the New Dimensions memory care unit. The program is a non-medication strategy that aims to enhance each individual’s quality of life. The BBET program has multiple therapies (music, video, memory props and stimulation) to help reduce cognitive stress and provide appropriate mental exercise.
The BBET program can help:
- Improve one's quality of life
- Engage residents
- Manage behaviors
- Enhance family visits
- Reduce falls
- Reduce anti-psychotic medication
- And more
The BBET program utilizes a customized therapy action plan to assist employees in choosing activities that fit a resident’s interests and capabilities. A library of more than 150 tools is easily accessible for employees to provide engagement, calmness and enjoyment to residents who may otherwise have escalating behavior.
We believe the BBET program can enhance the quality of life for those living with Alzheimer's disease or other related dementias. Contact us today to learn more about the BBET program and the New Dimensions memory care unit at Good Samaritan Society – Hays.
