Assisted living service communities may benefit seniors who:

Good Samaritan Society – Oakwood is a 13-unit assisted living center located on the Good Samaritan Society – Valentine campus. Our community features a beautiful living area with fireplace, outdoor porch, dining room and private family room.

Assisted living brings together a combination of housing, personal care and other supportive services. It is an option for people who want to remain in a homelike environment and who do not require the level of medical care found in a traditional nursing center.

Assisted living residents benefit from 24-hour staffing, supportive services and custom healthcare options.

Every Oakwood apartment includes:

• Paid utilities
• Telephone access
• Basic cable TV service
• Weekly housekeeping to include dusting, daily emptying of wastebaskets vacuuming, bathroom and kitchenette cleaning
• Weekly personal laundry service, including bed change with clean bed linens
• Maintenance of grounds, building and furnished appliances
• Wireless internet
• Off-street parking

Services and amenities included in the monthly fee:

• Three meals per day and snacks
• 24-hour staffing and response to emergency call system
• Medication administration and reminders
• Planned social, recreational and religious activities
• Scheduled transportation to local medical appointments    
• Minimal assistance with activities of daily living
• Bathing assistance (1–2 times per week)
• Individual service plans

Additional services offered for a fee by Good Samaritan Society – Oakwood or other outside vendors:

• Daily bed making
• Bedding change more than one time per week
• Additional carpet cleaning (spots, spills or full apartment)
• Additional housekeeping services
• Guest meals
• Tray service
• Additional health services (tasks requiring more than minimal assistance with bathing, grooming and toileting will be referred to the resident’s home health provider of choice)
• Telephone and Internet service
• Additional whirlpool bath or shower
