96-year-old World War II veteran takes 'flight of a lifetime' in Las Cruces


LAS CRUCES, N.M. – A 96-year-old Las Cruces veteran took a flight of a lifetime on Tuesday.

John Bloom, who served in the Air Force during World War II and is a Good Samaritan Society - Las Cruces Village resident, took a flight in a WWII-era Boeing Stearman open-cockpit biplane.

The flight was part of Operation September Freedom which was created by Dream Flights.
