Caregivers help Ottumwa hospice patient get final wish

OTTUMWA, I.A. - David Steen is in hospice at the Good Samaritan Society in Ottumwa. He thought he would never get to fish again, but Monday he got to do just that. His caregivers, Sarah Meeker and Sherelyn Hornick, made it their mission to fulfill his last request before he passes.

“It’s wonderful to be out fishing,” Steen said.

‘It's important part of our job to remember that we're here for them,” said Sarah Meeker, Good Samaritan Society – Ottumwa activities director. “And they do things for us that we can't even comprehend sometimes.”
