Fall Prevention Month observed with balance clinic

BEATRICE, N.E. - The Good Samaritan Society has been observing September as Fall Prevention Month with balance clinics held in the facilities and open to the community throughout the past week.

Rehabilitation and Therapy Supervisor Kari Parks said the department has spent the month bringing awareness to our communities and facilities.

"We hosted balance clinics at the Beatrice Senior Center and at Samaritan Springs Assisted Living in order to help inform our community and the geriatric population, in particular, about how to better prevent falls from happening," she said. "We used the STEADI initiative (Stopping Elderly Accidents, Deaths, and Injuries) to assess each individual and then provide them with resources and one-on-one education on how they can better prevent a fall from happening."
