If you would like to get involved and support our Good Samaritan Society communities during the pandemic, there’s a variety of ways you can help by donating funds, supplies or items for residents.

“If a community member wants to give a gift to Albion, Neb., or any other Good Samaritan Society location, it will stay local and 100% of every dollar given goes directly to that area of interest,” says Bobbie Tibbetts, president of the Foundation.

You can also share encouragement by sending a note to a resident using our free online service. Explore all these opportunities below and know that you’re making a difference in the lives of others.

Enterprise Employee Crisis Fund

To help employees and their families facing financial hardship due to the far reaching effects of the COVID-19 outbreak, your support for the Enterprise Employee Crisis Fund will assist with basic needs like food, housing, clothing or child care.

“It’s really a family-helping-family fund,” says Tibbetts.

You can donate $5 or all the way up to $1,000 and beyond. Through the fund, employees can receive up to a $1,000 based on need.

“Our hope is to be able to raise enough money so that we can consider every application we receive,” says Tibbetts.

Face masks

To help prevent the spread of COVID-19, you can support our residents and employees by donating homemade, surgical or N95 face masks. To sew homemade masks, follow these easy instructions.

Unopened disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer

As we take extra precautions and follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention protocols, you can donate unopened disinfecting wipes and hand sanitizer to help us frequently disinfect objects and surfaces.

Items to brighten a resident’s day

If you would like to help spread positivity, you can call your local Good Samaritan Society community and ask how you can help through a donation for resident activities.

Items may include:

  • Bingo prizes, such as candy bars or spa items
  • Books on tape
  • Craft supplies
  • Large-print crossword puzzles or activity books

Send a note of encouragement

You can also let a resident know you’re thinking of them by sending a message through our free Send a Note service. After you submit a note, a staff member prints it off and delivers it. If you don’t know the name of a resident, you can also choose “any resident” to have a staff member pick a resident for you.

Ideas for what to write about:

  • Tell a resident about yourself, such as what activities you enjoy or about your children or pets.
  • Share a positive message such as your silver lining moments during quarantine.
  • Share your favorite scripture verse or an uplifting quote.
  • Include a photo of your pet, family, home or signs of spring in your neighborhood.

In the interest of employee health and safety requirements, all food donations must be packaged and individually wrapped. Non-commercial food donations are currently not accepted.
