Augustana staff spread holiday cheer to Good Samaritan Society residents

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. - Nursing home residents from Good Samaritan Society – Luther Manor received a special holiday surprise on Tuesday. Staff from Augustana University’s Student Success Center sang Christmas songs and played Bingo with residents.

Luther Manor staff say they consider their residents family and it brings residents so much joy when community members, like Augustana staff, volunteer and spend time with them.

“We are fortunate to be part of such a wonderful community, and we are blessed to have Augustana University as neighbors. We are one big family here at the Good Samaritan Society – Luther Manor, and we consider Augustana part of our family,” said Kelli Aschoff, Good Samaritan Society – Luther Manor administrator.

A combination of both her money and donations from 150 other residents, it was the most she has ever collected. Residents will usually seek her out to donate, many leaving $20 bills under her door.
