SIOUX FALLS, S.D. — The first step toward opening a new, all-inclusive senior community center in Sioux Falls was taken on Monday.
The groundbreaking for Good Samaritan Society - Founder’s Crossing took place at its planned location on the corner of Veterans Parkway and 57th Street.
The new senior community center will expand access to high-quality care close to home by fulfilling a growing need for senior services on the east side of Sioux Falls. “It’s going to be an absolute game-changer here for us in Sioux Falls. It really infuses technology, all of the very best of Sanford Health and the Good Samaritan Society as we look to bring together a really special campus serving seniors here on the east part of the community,” said Nathan Schema, president and CEO of the Good Samaritan Society.
The campus will offer all health and wellness services under one roof including independent living apartments and villas, assisted living and memory care services, short-term rehabilitation and long-term care, home-based services, life enrichment programs and a direct connection to a future Sanford Health clinic and Lewis Drug.
Amenities like walking paths, outdoor and indoor fitness areas, pickleball, a golf simulator, a large community room, restaurant-style dining and a spa will also be on campus.
“We wanted a place where people could truly age in place and have all of the amenities at their fingertips, but have the peace of mind knowing that should they need a little extra care, maybe it’s short-term rehab, maybe it’s assisted living down the line, they don’t have to leave their community. They don’t have to leave their friends and their neighbors that they’ve developed this relationship with over the last several years,” said Schema.
Founder’s Crossing will be able to house 500 residents and will be supported by 200 employees.
Founder’s Crossing will be completed in phases. The villas are expected to open in the spring of 2025 followed by independent living apartments, assisted living and memory care assisted living apartments, short-term rehabilitation and the long-term care center in 2027 to 2028.
