World War II veterans take flight in Alma

ALMA, N.E. – Two World War II veterans had the opportunity to take a ride through the skies once again at the Alma Municipal Airport Friday.

The veterans were offered a free early morning ride on a bi-plane through ‘Dream Flights.’ Family, friends and others in community came out to see the two men experience something special to them.

John Hawley, 96, and Donald Woodruff, 99, had served in the army during the World War II. Both of the veterans were staying at Good Samaritan Society - Alma. Erica Little, activities coordinator for Good Samaritan Society said the two had been looking forward to the day of the flight for awhile beforehand.
