Donor Profile: Linda Scroggins

Linda Scroggins

Q: What inspired you to make a gift?

My parents lived at Lake Forest Village in Denton, Texas from 1999 - 2006. They are both gone now, but dad loved to walk around the lake. Of all the places I looked at, I loved that at this place they could go outside.

When I received the postcard about updating the beauty salon, I thought about how both mom and dad would have loved that a lot. It caught my eye. Maybe call it a “spa”…so the men will feel comfortable going too.

Q: Why is giving important to you?

A: As I get older, I realize I enjoy the care this project will provide. I know it helps me feel immeasurably better when I can take care of myself. I want others to feel that way too.

Q: What change would you like to see in the world, especially in how people experience aging?

A: It’s in your point of view. I want seniors to feel as dignified as possible and when you cannot do simple things for yourself – like taking care of your hair or nails - you don’t feel good about yourself. I want to give that back to them.

Linda recently retired from AT&T where she worked for 40 years. She lives in Allen, Texas.
