Double the Impact: Anonymous Gift Qualifies Good Sam Location for Matching Grant Program

An anonymous donor’s $10,000 gift has qualified the Good Samaritan Society – Westview Acres in Waconia, Minnesota, to participate in a new matching grant program.

“The Lord had already prepared my heart, so I knew an opportunity to give was in my future,” the donor said. “Then a friend walked in and showed me information about this program and I knew immediately — this was what I was supposed to do.

New for 2025, the matching grant program, made possible through the Good Samaritan Foundation, is designed to inspire engagement and support for the Good Samaritan Society’s mission of care.

The first 30 Good Samaritan campuses that raise $10,000 in donations can qualify for a $10,000 matching grant from the Foundation. The grant can be used to enhance and improve their physical spaces and/or to address pressing needs.

"This is my home,” the donor said. “I’m happy here and God’s been so good to me. The staff here are so wonderful. They truly are servants of the Lord. I’ve seen them go above and beyond to help someone or do something. It’s just extra special.”

When asked about the decision to remain anonymous, the donor’s answer was simple:

“I want God to get the credit for this. That’s the way it should be.”

Ali Hofer serves as the vice president for the Good Samaritan Foundation. She called the donor’s gift an inspiration.

“As a nonprofit health care organization, support from donors makes it possible for us to surround residents and patients with all the good they need to thrive at every age and every stage of life. So, we are beyond grateful for this beautiful gift.”

“It takes all of us to meet the ever-evolving needs of our changing population, so we're so excited to see momentum building for this matching grant program,” Hofer said. “It’s a chance for residents, patients, loved ones and community members to work together to make a difference. The match makes it extra special — it’s a chance for donors to double their impact.”
