Moments of good in 2025: Honoring donor generosity

Good Samaritan — Prairie Creek outdoor expansion.

At Good Samaritan, 2025 was another year filled with moments of good – moments made possible through the generosity of people who believe in caring for others at every age and every stage of life.

Across our communities, more than 2,000 donors stepped forward to invest in our mission last year, giving $4.3 million through the Good Samaritan Foundation to help ensure every resident and patient can live fully. Their generosity inspires moments of good every day.

Giving at work across our communities

Here are just a few of the donors whose generosity made a profound difference this past year. We’ll share more about the impact of their philanthropy in the coming weeks, but for now, please join us in celebrating how their gifts for good are making a difference across the communities we serve.

Colorado
Two Good Samaritan locations in Colorado – Loveland and Windsor – secured matching grants from the Foundation thanks to generous donor support. Good Samaritan Society – Loveland Village is using its matched funds to build a new wellness area on campus. In both communities, these gifts ensure residents have the spaces they need to thrive.

For more than 30 years, Ted Peterschmidt owned and operated Kunkels Sports Center in Davenport. Before his passing, he made a meaningful decision to leave a lasting impact on the community he loved by including Good Samaritan Society – Davenport in his estate plan. Ted’s legacy will continue shaping care and comfort for years to come.

For four years, Brad Armstrong has been a generous supporter of Good Samaritan Society – Liberal, where his parent resided. His giving has enhanced daily life for residents and staff alike, helping fund new rehabilitation equipment, a transport van and new kitchen ovens. Brad’s ongoing generosity continues to bless the community in meaningful ways.

Minnesota
At Good Samaritan Society – Waconia, one resident saw a need and responded. For eight years, she has quietly and faithfully supported her community as an anonymous donor. This year, after learning about the Foundation’s matching grant program, she gave again – helping the campus reach its goal and secure a grant. Her generosity made it possible to upgrade the television system, providing residents with improved entertainment and connection.

Nebraska
Following a rehabilitation stay at Good Samaritan Society – Albion, Marilee Niewohner experienced firsthand the impact of compassionate, quality care. When she learned about a major project to remodel the skilled nursing unit, Marilee committed to a transformational $750,000 gift. As the lead gift, her support reflects her gratitude and belief in strengthening care for others. Read more of Marilee’s story.

North Dakota
Over the years, Dwight and Eleanor Boe worked at several Good Samaritan locations throughout the Northwest and in Colorado. To honor Eleanor’s birthplace and their shared commitment to service, the couple made the decision to include Good Samaritan Society – Park River in their estate plans. Their bequest ensures their lifelong dedication to caring for others will continue far into the future.

South Dakota
Thanks to an estate gift from Arlette R. Villaume, Good Samaritan Society – Prairie Creek in Sioux Falls secured a matching grant from the Good Samaritan Foundation. Together, this support made it possible to build a beautiful new outdoor gathering space beneath a pergola. Arlette’s generosity gives residents a welcoming place to connect, enjoy fresh air and experience community.
